I want to talk about the future...

There are basically three ways to express future ideas Let's see:

  1. Future WILL.

- On-the-spot decisions. Example: Boy: I'm so hungry Mom: I'll make you a sandwich ('ll = will)
 - Simple predictions. Example: Aries, you will win the lottery if you buy a ticket
 - Promises. Example: Brad, I will always love you
 - To give information about schedules and itineraries. Example: The concert will begin at 8 o'clock

  2. Future TO BE + GOING TO

 - To express planned events and intentions. Examples: Frank is going to study Law. (distant future intention)// I'm going to text Pablo (near future, just after now)
 - To make predictions based on physical or visual evidence. Example: Look at those clouds! It's going to rain!

  3. Present Continuous

- For Future Plans or Arrangements. Example: My parents are flying to Sao Paulo tomorrow morning. - What are you doing this afternoon? - I'm playing soccer with my friends

Common expressions in which we use present continuous for future arrangements are: tonight, next month (year, week) tomorrow, this weekend etc.

Sentences in present continous to express future plans can also be used with "going to". We use present continuous to simplify the sentence, but it is optional.
